About

Who am I and what is this Quiet Guy Society all about?

I've spent much of my life feeling like I didn't relate to other guys. I don't care about sports or cars or the things that many guys are into. I love to consume ideas that deepen my sense of purpose and my confidence to be the best version of who I am.

Do we ever really leave high school?

Growing up I was the quiet, nice kid that got along with everyone. That still continues to this day. I tend to be the patient questioner, listener, educator and observer.

I spend most of my time using my skills to serve corporate and other clients through my business www.strategicfuel.ca but do find time to grab a coffee and coach Quiet Guys on personal and career related matters.

In high school I can remember sitting in the small band practice room behind the auditorium listening to pretty girls talk about their boy problems. I have naturally played this same role throughout my career and have been counseling/coaching people informally for most of my life.

Do only loud voices get heard?

Most loud, more aggressive types of people like to reinforce that their way of being is the right way to be.  They communicate that being quiet and nice is boring, and somehow not nearly as cool as being loud and proud.

I've come to see that 'cool' is not bending to the pressure to become someone others want me to be but rather what is cool is just being myself and helping other guys like me do the same thing. As a result I'm a better person, better employee, husband, father and friend.

Quiet Guy Society was born from a personal development/branding program I participated in. Just one of many programs I've invested in to help me find my voice and authentic purpose in this world. I thank Suzanne Falter and Jeffrey Van Dyk for their ability to spot my calling. I also thank my patient designer pal and fellow Quiet Guy, Iles Guran for his gifted hand at crafting the logo and header for this blog. A big thanks to my cousin Catherine at Open Shutters Photography for my new photos.

What will Quiet Guy Society become?

I have recently refined my tagline to 'Live Quiet and Prosper'. This idea captures my personal mission to help myself and other introverted men build on their introverted strengths and fuel a life that is rich inside and out.

Right now I'm focused on building my Strategic Fuel business which has left the Quiet Guy Society blog to sit rather quiet and likely will for a while longer.

But I dream about creating fun products such as journals with creative exercises, templates and such to help strengthen the belief that being quiet is cool and has huge value to offer others. I see workshops using the visual design techniques I apply at work to help quiet guys get out of their heads and chart a new path for their lives and careers. I see lots of fun and interesting adventures as I learn what quiet guys need.

This adventure has just begun even though I've been living it my entire life.

Live quiet and prosper!
